Frequently Asked Vehicle Hire Questions
Q1 How far can I drive in hire vehicle?
There is a mileage allowance in your hire agreement of
150 miles per day for the first 6 days hire.
1000 miles for 7 days hire.
Then 100 miles per day after up to a maximum hire period of 28 days equalling 2800 miles.
Any mileage over these allowances is chargeable at 0.10 pence per mile.
Q2 Booking and paying for my vehicle or cancelling a booking?
All bookings can only be made through the web site and payments only be made by credit or debit card. Any cancelled books that are less than 48 hours’ notice from the agreed collection date and time are not refundable.
Q3 How old do I need to be to drive a vehicle?
You must be aged between 25 and 70 years of age.
Q4 What licence do I need to drive your vehicles and can I still rent if I have points on my licence or I have had an accident?
Licence Requirements and Accident Record.
A full car licence which is category B that you have held for a minimum of 12 months.
No more than 3 points in the last 3 years and any conviction that resulted in a period of disqualification of six months or less is only acceptable after 3 three years from the date of conviction. Including Endorsement codes CD10/IN10/LC10
Any disqualification period over 6 months is only acceptable after 5 years from the date of conviction. Including Endorsement codes AC10/AC20/ALL BA/ALL DD/ALL DG/ALL DR/CD40/CD50/CD60/CD70/MS90/ALL MR
Any licence with Endorsement code UT or two periods of disqualification is NOT ACCEPTABLE WE CAN NOT HIRE TO YOU.
Our insurers require each driver to disclose all accidents which have occurred in the previous 3 years, irrespective of circumstance or fault.
Up to 1 fault accident in last 3 years OK TO RENT
2 fault accidents in last 3 years HAVE TO REFER TO OUR INSURANCE
3 or more accidents in the 3 years UNACCEPTABLE WE CAN NOT RENT
Q5 What does the price include and what do I do about fuel?
The hire rate includes comprehensive insurance with a minimum customer £1000.00 excess.
Vehicle excise road tax, UK breakdown and VAT included.
All vehicles are supplied full of fuel if not returned full will be recharged at the prices on your hire agreement.
Q6 Can I put more than one driver on the insurance?
There is a small extra charge for additional drivers who must produce their licence at the time of hire they must also meet our insurance criteria and fill in an additional drivers form before being authorised to drive.
Q7 What documents are required to enable me to hire a vehicle?
You will need your “check code” from www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence, your photo driving licence, together with two other forms of ID – one of which must be dated within the last 3 months and include your current address e.g. a utility bill, bank or credit card statement. Plus payment for the hire together with the deposit.
Q8 Is it possible to take the vehicle abroad?
Only UK mainland
Q9 What happens if I have a breakdown?
All of our vehicles have 24hour breakdown and recovery service. In the event of a breakdown you should phone the number on your rental agreement.
Q10 What happens if I have an accident?
We just need you to make sure everybody is OK and call an ambulance and or police if required. Take details including photos of vehicles or property of who was involved and what happened and try to obtain independent witnesses, then call the breakdown service if you need recovering.
An accident report form will have to be completed for the insurance company as soon as possible. Failure to complete an accident report at our office within reasonable time could incur you with significant charges relating to the accident.
